(Stamford, CT – October 15, 2012) – Chelsea Piers Connecticut (CPCT) is pleased to announce that the Squash Club, located within the 400,000 sq. ft. CPCT sports complex, will participate in World Squash Day on October 20, 2012. The event is being held in support of squash’s bid for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games and will provide a competitive and fun-filled day for squash players and enthusiasts to celebrate their sport.

World Squash Day at CPCT will feature several events, activities and competitions throughout the day from 8am to 5pm. Planned activities will include kids clinics, “Play with the Pro” slots, mini squash and singles and doubles competitions for juniors, adults and pros.  Beer, wine and snacks will be offered in the social lounge and bar area.

“I have been fortunate to have had a long and successful career in squash reaching the #1 spot in the world at the height of my career, but nothing would have meant more to me than being an Olympian,” commented Natalie Grainger, Director of Squash, Chelsea Piers Connecticut.  “World Squash Day is about celebrating our sport with events, activities and competitions with the goal of raising money and awareness for Back the Bid 2020 – squash’s bid to be included in the Olympic games.”

A $30 entry fee will be charged for each player, participant and spectator. All proceeds will be donated to the Olympic Bid and Squash Haven, an inner-city youth squash and education program in New Haven.  Attendees will receive a “Back the Bid 2020” T-shirt at the door.
