Dateline October 24th
--- Completing their three-match, nine-game path through the draw, first-time partners Jonny Smith and Imran Khan defeated Dan Roberts and Greg McArthur 15-9, 3 and 7 to win the third annual Pittsburgh Cup this past weekend, hosted as always by the Pittsburgh Golf club. This $10,000 Challenger Cup for players ranked out of the ISDA top-eight was the kick-off to the 2011-12 ISDA pro doubles tour, which will have its first full-ranking tournament this coming weekend in St. Louis, where Damien Mudge and Ben Gould, who went undefeated last season, their first as partners, will attempt to extend their consecutive-match winning streak, which currently stands at 38.

The Pittsburgh Cup win marked the second Challenger title for both members of the winning team. Khan and Greg Park earned the Graham Cup title at Germantown in suburban Philadelphia in March 2010, out-playing James Hewitt and Mark Price in that final, while Smith prevailed in Pittsburgh last year as well, on that occasion with Raj Nanda as his partner, on the strength of their final-round rally from two games to one down against many-times U. S. Junior National Doubles champs Todd Ruth and Trevor McGuinness. More than a dozen stops are scheduled for this ISDA
season, which runs all the way to early May.
