Mohamed Nabil Wins PST Boston Open Title from DailySquashReport.com
October 26, 2011-
Mohamed Nabil of Alexandria, Egypt, held off former Brown University
number one Adrian Leanza to capture the Pro Squash Tour Boston Open on
Sunday before an appreciative crowd at Boston’s Sports Club/LA.
Significant as well was the performance in a losing effort of 2009 US
Women’s Intercollegiate Champion Nour Bahgat, who gave Leanza all
he could handle in the quarters, narrowly losing the pivotal third game
11-9 before fading in the close-out fourth.
The Boston Open was the fourth stop on the 2011-12 PST Calendar.
Mohamed El Sherbini claimed two events, the San Diego Open and the
Bobcat Classic in Maine, while former world #1 John White prevailed in
a tough Mohawk Open in Southhampton, New York.
Next up for the PST is the Tuixedo Open, November 10-13, in Tuxedo Park, New York.
Joe McManus filed this report on the Boston Open:
Mohamed Nabil won his first PST Tournament in a four game victory over
Adrian Leanza played at Boston's Sports Club/LA on October 23, 2011.
Nabil, at 20 years of age, is a rising star on the Pro Squash Tour. He
was one of PST's prized recruits last season and finished the season as
PST's #5 player. In his first tournament back this season, Nabil looked
strong and precise in his shot making.
The championship match featured two rising stars. Leanza also joined
PST last season, turning pro after finishing his eligibility at Brown
University where he was the #1 players on the nation's 12th ranked team.
Game 1 featured both players moving corner to corner. Nabil was
aggressively looking for winners, while Leanza was comfortable to
extend the rallies and wait for a Nabil error. In a high paced opener,
Nabil won in extra points 13-11.
Game 2 was a carbon copy of the opener. Corner to corner action
featuring many Nabil winners and several Nabil errors. Although Nabil
won the game 11-9 and was up two games to zero, Leanza walked off the
court looing strong.
Leanza is regarded as one of the fittest players on tour. The long
rallies and close games to start the match played right into his
strategy. Game 3 saw Leanza in control throughout and he cruised to a
11-5 game.
Nabil was frustrated and made several errors, trying to shorten the
rallies with more aggressive shots. This strategy failed. Nabil took
his time returning for game 4 and entered the court clearly determined.
Nabil continued to push the tempo of the points and Leanza continued to
keep the ball in play. With Nabil leading 8-6, suddenly Leanza felt
some pressure and hit the tin on three consecutive rallies, giving
Nabil the match and the trophy.

Nabil d Leanza 13-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6.
