October 27, 2011- New York teenagers Dylan
Murray of Westchester and Sabrina Sobhy of Long Island fulfilled their top
seeds in turning back all opposition and capturing the Under-19 Boys and Girls titles respectively last weekend in the Junior Squash Tour-1 Championships at
the PRO Sports Club in Bellevue, Washington.
Sobhy, still only 14-years-old, had a tough time in the quarters with
Reeham Sedky of nearby Sammamish, having to come back from two-love
down before winning 11-4 in the fifth. She then went four games with Caroline East of Maryland in the
semis before straight-setting Philadelphia’s Carey Celata in
the final.
Murray, at 16, the number-one ranked American junior, beat Faraz
Khan of Old Greenwich, Connecticut in a five-game semi and Shahjahan
Khan of Seattle in the final in a tight three. Shahjahan had ousted
US junior team members Edward Columbia and Liam McClintock, both of
Massachusetts, en route.
The Junior Championship Tour events are considered the marquee
tournaments on the US Squash junior calendar.
