Cleveland Skating Club Open Friday Report

Last night’s report on the matches:

A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered in anticipation of the return of the first men’s PSA  Tour event in  Cleveland since 2005

First on was Cameron Stafford  (Cayman Islands)who lost in 4 to Thoboki Moholo. ( South Africa)

The second  match was  Kiwi Chris van der Salm who won a tight 3 set match against Brazillian Josemar Silva. Both big guys, the court was warm and the ball was flying around. Quality squash.

Longest match of the night was a 5 setter  ( one hour 25 minutes)between Dutchman Sebastiaan Weeknik and 17 year old  Mexican Jesus Camacho, long hard brutal rallies, Seb showed his experience winning the last in 11/2

Ben Grindrod ( NZL) defeated PSA rep Eliot Selby 3/1

Kiwi Evan Williams showed speed around court beating the tallest man in the draw, Mark Broekman  (Eng)3/0.

Englishman Lyell Fuller beat   Fayaz Khan (USA) 3/0 in 40 minutes, Fayaz seemed to pull up with a leg injury which didn’t helpm his cause.

Last match was gregarious Irishman Arthur Gaskin who started slow but showed some silky skills defeating Ajabe Babatunde  3/0

3 kiwis through to the ¼ finals, all will be hoping their matches finish before the Rugby World Open Final today.

1st match starts at 10 am Saturday.
