- Alister Walker of Botswana cruised to a 29-minute win over #1 American Julian Illingworth while top Canadian Shahier Razik also advanced, as first-round action got underway last night at the $35,000 NetSuite Open on the campus of Stanford University in Palo Alto.

Walker, who currently lives and trains in southern Connecticut, beat Illingworth, of New York City, 11-5 11-2 11-2.

Razik of Toronto handled wildcard Lewis Walters of England 11-1 11-4 11-5 in 33 minutes.

Top seeded Daryl Selby of the UK, ranked 11th in the world, needed an 11-9 close-out fourth game and 65 minutes to overcome Cesar Salazar of Mexico.  Salazar is ranked 59th in the world, 48 spots below Selby, but is a tenacious competitor who is never an easy out.
