Packed House In Vancouver For $20K PSA Qualifying Finals by Shauna Flath
November 9, 2011-
It is about the fact we just started. Wow! What a final
round of qualifying matches at the BC Honda Open. Dave looked in
control of the first two games and Pater looked like he was ready to
throw in the towel but turned it around in the 3rd. “It was
mental my head wasn’t in it then I thought give it a go then the
match turned”. Peter started to play a bit more aggressive
and wear Dave down. Dave struggled a bit with trying to push back
in the rallies but let Peter take control and Peter took advantage of
it and took it home to close it out in 78mins.
Fred played well and Jonathan fought hard but spent a bit too much
energy in the 3rd and faltered in the last two and Fred took in 1108 in
the fifth.
Declan and Alex great match….Declan solid in the first two then
Alex too the next and took advantage of James’s wrong choices and
capitalized to take the next two. Declan and some sound advice
after the fourth from a friend and buckled down mentally to play
disciplined squash and closed out the match to take it 11-5 in the
5th. “I felt lost a bit mentally in the 3rd and 4th and
played smarter more disciplined squash in the 5th and it worked in my
favor.”
Needless to say that the qualifying was nothing but fantastic for the
packed house at Jericho as we finished the last match at 10:45pm.
