Top-Seed Shahier Razik Cruises In $20K BC Honda Open First Round by Shauna Flath
November 10, 2011
- Pretty straight forward night with the top 2 seeds moving through
with ease. The surprise of the night was Rasmus Nielsen defeating
Jan Koukal who seemed out of sorts and not himself. We are not
sure what happened as it appeared that he did not have the
“feel” at all on the court and went down to a easy going
solid player with Rasmus. Jan has been here before and has a lot
of Jericho supporters behind him so we are all hoping that he will have
a solid bounce back in his next event.
The all Canadian battle between Dane and Fred was great for the
fans. Fred put in a spirited effort but Dane cam e through in the
end with a solid performance.
Raz was his usual self solid and Thomas had to work hard for every
point. In the end it was a good learning experience for a young
up and coming Canadian against the more experienced Razik.
Joe came through in a tight fourth and was relieved that he closed it
out. “Andrew got some of the momentum but I was happy to
close it out and didn’t have to go to 5” Andrew is
coming up and started to get the belief in his match and put in a great
effort lot’s to come from him as far as the future of Canadian
squash.
Other notables were Ryan Cuskelly with ease and precision on ball
placement that took the match with Declan 3-0. Declan put in a
good fight but Ryan out classed him this evening.
Mohamed did some Egyptian style squash and ripped some
nicks….surprise…NOT…anyways a good effort and a
entertaining match for the fans Charles put in a fantastic effort but
just fell short in the end.
Last match….well we would be up again tonight…..Eddie
made quick work of Peter and won 11-1; 11-7; 13-11 54mins Asked for a
quote….”Bedtime” Well done Eddie and good
night.
