US Women To Face New Zealand Today In World Teams Opener, Canada Takes On Australia from DailySquashReport.com

- Preliminary pool play begins today at the 2012 Women's World Team
Championships in Nimes, France, as the American contingent plays New
Zealand and Team Canada duels Australia.
New Zealand, with top-20 WSA players Joelle King and Jaclyn Hawkes at
numbers 1 and 2, presents a challenge for the US squad, whose current
top three are Natalie Grainger, Kristen Lange and Sabrina Sobhy. Olivia
Fiechter is listed as the team alternate.
Canada, led by world #33 Sam Cornett, will similarly have a tough
assignment against the strong Aussie trio of Rachael Grinham, Donna
Urquhart and Melody Francis.
Rounding out Team Canada's lineup will likely be Alexandra Norman and Susannah King, with Stephanie Edmison as the alternate.
The US is in a three team pool that includes Japan, while Canada's pool includes Austria.
The top two teams in each pool advance to the knockout round-of-16 later in the week.
Amanda Sobhy, the top US women's player and World #20, is not participating.
