ASSISTANT SQUASH PRO

The Detroit Athletic Club (DAC) in Detroit Michigan is looking for a full time assistant squash pro to help grow the current program. Our athletic facility includes four (4) singles squash courts, a squash doubles court, three (3) racquetball / handball courts, fitness room, swimming pool, spa services, and a full-serviced men’s and women’s locker room.

The DAC is one of the highest ranked athletic clubs in the United States. We are dedicated to excellent customer service and we pride ourselves on doing the job better than our counterparts.

This position will aid in the growth and expansion of our successful squash program.
A large part of the coaching duties will include building a junior program through clinics and private lessons. Assistance to the Head Squash Pro will also be expected with varying tasks including leagues and tournament organization, plus required administration work. The applicant must be prepared to work on Saturdays and Sundays.

Applicants should have:
    
·    Valid US Work Visa
·    Minimum squash skills of 6.0 / High college standard with a competitive tournament playing experience
·    Have at least two years coaching experience with experience coaching all levels of squash players from beginners to top club level, adult and juniors.
·    A genuine passion to teach the game
·    Strong communication skills
·    Strong organizational skills and computer skills including Excel and Windows
·    Self-motivation with the ability to take initiative and anticipate needs
·    Professional presentation and attitude to help grow a classroom of squash learners

Position Summary:

The Assistant Squash Pro will provide professional squash lessons that are client based and help achieve stated goals. The pro is required to provide the highest level of customer service and hospitality to members, guests and fellow employees. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·    The building of a junior squash program
·    Teaching lessons, clinics and camps to adults and children
·    Ability to analyze needs, and motivate adults and children
·    Weekend work a requirement
·    Assistance in tournament and league organization
·    Assistance in pro shop sales and racquet restring when required
·    Assist with special club projects, events and promotions as requested
·    Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response
·    Actively assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the squash area and club; enforce athletic and club rules and policies

Compensation for this position is based on candidate’s previous experience. This is a salaried position. The Assistant Squash Pro can also earn money through a percentage of their squash lesson revenue. A comprehensive benefits package is included – health insurance, and a 401K plan.
