March Canary Wharf Classic Sells Out from Tour Media November 27, 2015
- The 2016 Canary Wharf Squash Classic is a sell-out, five months ahead
of the world’s top players heading back to London’s Docklands. All
tickets were snapped up inside five weeks of going on sale, an amazing
testament to the popularity of London’s premier squash tournament.
The event takes place at Canary Wharf’s spectacular East Wintergarden
venue from March 7-11 and a rise in prize money is one of the factors
in the tickets being in such hot demand.
Tournament Director Tim Garner said: “The increase in prize money to
$70,000 should almost certainly result in many of the best players in
the world appearing at the East Wintergarden in 2016.
“We have worked hard to raise the profile of the tournament and to
bring in new sponsors to help provide a bigger prize fund for the
players. The event has sold out every ticket, every day, for the past
five years, but this response has been astonishing. To sell out in an
unprecedented period of five weeks shows what can happen when a
high-quality event is delivered over a sustained number of years.
“The players always enjoy playing at Canary Wharf. They love the venue,
and get a buzz from the atmosphere generated by a noisy and
knowledgeable crowd. We will, of course, have a waiting list for anyone
who has missed out on a ticket.”

QUALIFYING COMPETITION:
The qualifying competition takes place at Wimbledon Racquets and
Fitness Club over the weekend of March 5-6 with four winners joining
the top 12 seeds in the main draw.
