The Los Angeles Athletic Club, (www.laac.com) is seeking a full-time Squash Professional and Athletic Department Assistant.
The LAAC is a full service, members-only social and athletic club.
Activities include squash, handball, volleyball, basketball, swimming,
aerobics, dance, yoga, pilates, kickboxing, weightlifting, fitness and
more. The club has first-class facilities, including four restaurants,
72 hotel rooms and banquet facilities, and is host to the annual John
R. Wooden award for college basketball’s most outstanding male
and female athletes.
The Club’s squash program has a strong reputation for high
quality coaching, junior development and amateur squash leagues. The
LAAC also hosts regular professional (PSA and WISPA) tournaments.
Squash membership exceeds 200. The incoming squash pro will be expected
to continue these programs, grow membership and participation, and
further develop the sport in Los Angeles.
The successful candidate must demonstrate superior playing and coaching
ability and be able to train a broad range of players, from elite
juniors to beginners. The position requires participation in all
aspects of the squash program, including teaching private and group
lessons, administration of in-house leagues, running professional
tournaments, and all other traditional activities of a private club
squash program. Other duties include budget development and management,
athletic department and facilities oversight, and general operational
duties.
College degree preferred. Must have prior coaching experience. Junior
development and non-profit program experience a plus. Must have
excellent management, communication, customer service and computer
skills, and be a team player, problem solver and organized.
Compensation includes competitive salary, private lesson and clinic
fees, and commission on tournament fundraising. Benefits include
