Adrian Leanza Grinds Out PST Philadelphia Open Title from Tour Media December 18, 2011-
Adrian Leanza beat Yasser Kamel 12-10, 11-4, 7-11, 11-2 to win the
Philadelphia Open Championship on Sunday. This is Leanza's first PST
Tournament Championship.
Kamel opened the match by jumping to an immediate 8-1 lead in game 1.
Kamel was hitting winners and Leanza was hitting tins needlessly.
Leanza righted himself though and very patiently worked himself back to
win the game 12-10.
Game 2 was all Leanza as he cruised to an 11-4 win. Kamel seemed to
have found a new rhythm in game 4 as he won 11-7. However, game 4
consisted of one unforced error after another as Leanza coasted to an
11-2 victory.
"I am thrilled to have my first championship," said Leanza. "My coaches
[Pete Avitable, Stuart LeGassick, and Sean Wilkinson] really helped me
improve over the past season. I owe them each a big thank you."
In the third place match, Ibrahim Nyanzi beat Nathan Ticho 11-6, 5-11, 1-012, 11-6, 11-7 in a one hour 13 minute battle.
