Maria Elena Ubina of Stamford, Connecticut, capped off an impressive
year yesterday by winning the US Junior Open Girls Under-19 title with
a convincing straight-set decision over Diana Garcia of Mexico City.
In Girls Under-15 action, US Junior Team member and top seed Sabrina
Sobhy of New York was upset in a four-game final by Reeham Sedky of
Washington state.
Tyler Osborne of Ontario, Canada, fell in the Boys Under-19 final in
four to Ahmed Abdel Khalek, whose country of origin is unclear. Khalek had beaten top American junior Dylan Murray in the semis.
