December 23, 2011-
It has been announced that top American and world number 28 Julian
Illingworth has joined the professional staff of the New York Athletic
Club in Manhattan.
Julian will be available for lessons at the Central Park South club when he is not travelling and competing in PSA events.
He joins a top-flight staff headed by Pat Canavan. The other NYAC teaching pros are Greg LaMude, Mike Hahn and Ron Karn.
Julian, 27, is the reigning seven-time U. S. National Champion and has
been ranked as high as No. 27 on the pro Tour, the only American to
have ever earned a top-30 PSA ranking.
A native of Portland, Oregon, he was a four-time first-team
all-American at Yale, and he led the Elis to a co-Ivy League
championship in his senior year, which culminated in his successful
defense on his home Payne Whitney Gymnasium courts of the US National
Championship he had won for the first time as a junior the year before.
He won the $10,000 Squashworks Salt Lake City Open this July and the $10,000 Good Life Open in Ottawa in 2010.
