from Bob Hanscom

January 13, 2011
- JP Rothie has been appointed as interim Squash Professional at The Los Angeles Athletic Club. Quoting Marlene Wiscovitch, club Director of Athletics, "I am still in the process of doing phone interviews and will be hiring JP Rothie to work a few months until I bring on a new Squash Pro to replace our current pro, Stefan Casteleyn." Over 25 applications for the position have been received.

Following the 2008 retirement of Squash Professional Bob Hanscom, who served as LAAC's first professional for 15 years, (1993 to 2008), Casteleyn, the 37 year-old from Begium, former world #7 and 15-time Belgian national champion, was appointed to the position.

Following his 38 months on the job, Stefan recently announced that he and his family have  purchased a five-court squash club in Boom, Belgium, (located between the three big cities of Brussels, Antwerp and Mechelen near the Rupel river), where he will continue his squash career serving as its Squash Professional beginning in February.

Rothie is a two-time Venezuelan national champion and former three-time captain and #1 player for the University of Southern California Squash Team. The 27 year old left hander recently graduated with a BA in Cinematic Arts from the USC School of Cinema and Television and is pursuing his full-time career with AFI Fest, the Sundance Institute and Sony Pictures.
