JP Rothie Named Interim Pro At LA Athletic Club from Bob Hanscom

JP Rothie has been appointed as interim Squash Professional at The Los
Angeles Athletic Club. Quoting Marlene Wiscovitch, club Director of
Athletics, "I am still in the process of doing phone interviews and
will be hiring JP Rothie to work a few months until I bring on a new
Squash Pro to replace our current pro, Stefan Casteleyn." Over 25
applications for the position have been received.
Following the 2008 retirement of Squash Professional Bob Hanscom, who
served as LAAC's first professional for 15 years, (1993 to 2008),
Casteleyn, the 37 year-old from Begium, former world #7 and 15-time
Belgian national champion, was appointed to the position.
Following his 38 months on the job, Stefan recently announced that he
and his family have purchased a five-court squash club in Boom,
Belgium, (located between the three big cities of Brussels, Antwerp and
Mechelen near the Rupel river), where he will continue his squash
career serving as its Squash Professional beginning in February.
Rothie is a two-time Venezuelan national champion and former three-time
captain and #1 player for the University of Southern California Squash
Team. The 27 year old left hander recently graduated with a BA in
Cinematic Arts from the USC School of Cinema and Television and is
pursuing his full-time career with AFI Fest, the Sundance Institute and
Sony Pictures.
