Harvard's Amanda Sobhy Advances In Women's TOC, To Square Off With Kasey Brown

January 21, 2013 - Top-ranked US woman Amanda Sobhy turned in a workmanlike performance in tonight's first round of the WSA Tournament of Champions, pounding out an 11-8 11-1 11-7 win over 28th-ranked Delia Arnold of Malaysia.

Amanda will face third-seeded Kasey Brown of Australia tonight at 6:00 in an intriguing quarterfinal encounter.

The US-based Brown went down two-love in her first round match against young Egyptian Heba El Torky before digging deep and pulling it out 11-9 in the fifth.

Brown is currently ranked 13th in the world while Amanda is19th.

In the bottom quarter, qualifier Joshana Chinappa of India shocked national rival and second seed Dipika Pallikal in four.
