Calgary Winter Club To Again Host 'Altitude and Attitude' Summer Training For Elite Players
by Ashley Read

January 29, 2013 - The Calgary Winter Club, Calgary, Alberta has had a remarkable season so far, the club has been attracting world stars from both the singles and doubles world.

Back in October world doubles stars Damien Mudge, Ben Gould, Manek Mathur and Mark Chaloner helped launch our brand new hardball doubles court (part of a $23 million club expansion) with an evening of scintillating doubles squash. The four top players played a great five set match and then followed up with an informative question and answer session in front of a sell out crowd.

More recently world stars Amr Shabana and Gregory Gaultier entertained a packed house for an hour and a half with a breathtaking exhibition of squash of the highest caliber, Amr and Greg also spent time with CWC elite juniors, many ranked top 10 in Canada, giving them valuable advice and a good run around.

Currently top Canadian player David Letourneau, ranked 109 in the world is coming to the club a couple of times a week to push our elite junior players during their squad sessions. David is a Calgary native with many national junior titles to his name who also represented Canada at the world junior championships so is a great resource to the CWC elite junior program.

Last but not least the Calgary Winter Club will be hosting their annual Altitude and Attitude summer training the week of July 8-12th. Building on the success of last seasons camp which featured Jenny Duncalf and Lisa Aitken the camp is a break from the norm. Open to elite level juniors and seniors alike the camps philosophy is ‘train with the pro’s…play like the pro’s’. This summer current world ranked number 11 will be the star pro on hand to lead by example. Daryl will be joined by head squash pro Ashley Read, England Squash Level 4 elite coach, Susie King England Squash level 3 coach and Glenn Stark Squash Canada level 4 coach and former junior national girls coach.
