Squash Camp to Combine High Elevation Training with Sports Science

SALT LAKE, UT (Feb. 20, 2018) World Wide Squash Promotion will fulfill the academic, athletic and personal potential of camp attendees during an 11-day high elevation squash and education camp with coaching from top-level squash pros and instruction from nationally recognized professors on how to increase one’s squash game through sports science. Five scholarships will be awarded to players from economically disadvantaged households.

"I look forward to joining the high elevation camp this summer and passing on some of the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over 30 years,” Vanessa Atkinson, former world champion said. “The off-court altitude training adds an extra dimension which sets it apart from other squash camps."

According to Outside Magazine, the Salt Lake City and Park City mountains rank in the top ten towns in the United States for high-altitude training. High elevation training sessions will include mountain biking at Deer Valley Resort, mountain runs in Park City and hikes in Grant Teton National Park. High elevation training can enhance performance in elite athletes by one to three percent. While that sounds like a tiny improvement, it can be the difference between missing the final cut for a competitive team and earning a medal.

“This new exciting camp caters to the modern squash player at all levels. It brings together elite squash coaches, world champions and nationally acclaimed professors,” said Adrian Grant, former world number nine. “This camp offers every facet of training and education the body requires to perform at the highest level. It’s one camp I wish had access to in my squash career.”
The camp will run July 23 - August 2, 2018 and be led by James Willstrop, one-time world champion, Vanessa Atkinson as well as former world number nine, Adrian Grant.
