From Trinity Coach Paul Assaiante:

I 100% understand James' perspective.  As the US national coach, I get to be around the elite players of the world and I know how US squash is perceived and also how college squash is viewed by the elite players.

That said, there is a place in our world of squash for many different components.   Squash is still, in the end of the day, a lifetime sport.

If I want to see the best, I can watch James Willstrop and be in awe of his standard. If I want to see the thrill of two teams playing for their colleges, I can go watch the CSA finals.  If I want to see two old men play at lunchtime, I can look in a mirror.

The point is not that one entity is right and all the rest are wrong.

Squash is for us all.

We should celebrate the game, and not look at any aspect as less than the other.

Long live the game.

James Willstrop talks candidly about America's association with squash in an excerpt from his new book.

"A Shot and a Ghost: a year in the brutal world of professional squash" is available from www.willstrop.co.uk and on Kindle.
