Frontal Lobe
by Nick-At-Will

In short, the brain's frontal lobe involves the ability to project future consequences that result from current actions. When are children considered to possess this ability for both their academic and athletic fields of endeavor? Perhaps it's not quite as early in their lives as one might believe! "Children are not small adults!" The frontal lobe of the brain doesn't fully-develop (on average) until the age of 25! It is the part of the brain responsible for planning ahead, motivation, mastering life skills and decision-making. Even though a child may be showing signs of independence, now may NOT be the time to let them loose and be on their own! They will continue to need love, support, help and guidance in planning their day, understanding their school assignments, time management, athletic practice or play. Long-story short, give them the time they really need to develop and (truly) become adults!
