2012 US Century Doubles Crowns Six Champions

- The US Century Doubles concluded Sunday at the University Club in New York City, with championship matches in six divisions under a unique format where the combined ages of the partners totalled 100 years or more.

James Heldring and Eric Vlcek of Wayne, PA, emerged from a deep draw to capture the Open title over Eben Hardie and Bill Villari of Atlanta.

In the 16-team Mixed, it was Natalie Grainger of Greenwich coming through with her partner Pug Winokur to win it all in five over Meredeth and Taylor Quick of Colorado.

Kenny Kaufman and Doug Virtue of Rye won the A flight over Scott Simonton and Robert Bolling of Delaware.

In the 70+,
Michael Wilson and Dylan Patterson of New York won the championship in a  straight-game final over Mike Puertas and George Fowler of St. Louis.

The 60+ saw Scott Stoneburgh and Tony Ross of Toronto beat John Musto and Richard Rice of New York in the final.

Also in the 60's, John Lau's University Club of San Francisco was well represented by Jim Marver and Alex Dean, who made some noise in reaching the semis.

And in the 80+, it was Michael McBean and Will Simonton going undefeated in the four-team round robin.
