- Youth prevailed yesterday on the glass at the Harvard University Murr Center, as 18-year-old Amanda Sobhy pounded out a convincing four-game win over 34-year-old former world #1 Natalie Grainger to capture her first US Women's Championship.

Sobhy's victory broke Grainger's streak of five straight titles.

The final scorecard read: 11-1 11-4  2-11 and 11-8.

The event is open only to US citizens, which likely contributed to this year's shockingly light turnout, as only nine women were entered in the draw.

Still, the drama was in place for yesterday's final, as Sobhy, who last weekend finished off an undefeated freshman college season by winning the CSA Individuals, locked up with Grainger, one of the premier players in the world throughout a pro career which ended in 2010.

Amanda's victory comes on the heels of not only last weekend's US intercollegiates but also the February WSA Cleveland Classic, where she posted wins over 6th-ranked Rachael Grinham of Australia and 2nd-ranked Jenny Duncalf of England.
