Fifteen-year-old Sabrina Sobhy of Long Island, New York, beat
top-seeded Maria Elena Ubina 11-6 11-9 11-9 yesterday to capture the US
Girls Closed Under-19s title in New Haven, capping an impressive
five-match run through the stiff draw without the loss of a game.
On the boys' side, 16-year-old #1 American junior Dylan Murray of Bronxville, New
York, staved off a game final-round comeback from third seed Faraz Khan, winning
11-1 11-9 5-11 4-11 11-6. Murray had also needed the full five in
his semifinal to put away Devin McLaughlin.
The championships were closed to foreign players.
In other action, 16-year-old Olivia Fiechter of Philadelphia dominated
the Girls 17s, scoring an 11-7 11-6 11-5 finals victory over
Kayley Leonard of New York.

recently worked through a field that included Sobhy and Ubina to win
February's prestigious JCT Massachusetts U-19 Championship.

through in three over Morgan Huberman of New York City.
