Japan's Misaki Kobayshi Beats Seattle's Kristen Lange For WSA Hashim Khan Title In Denver

- World #38 Misaki Kobayashi of Kanagawa, Japan, weathered an overtime first game before cruising to a straight-set victory over American Kristen Lange yesterday to capture the WSA Hashim Khan title in Denver, Colorado.

Lange, a 23-year-old former University of Pennsylvania star now living in Washington state, enjoyed a spirited run through the draw, beating 8th-seeded Nayelly Hernandez of Mexico in the first round and 4th-seeded Milou Van Der Heijden of Holland in the quarters.

Lange then outlasted #2 seed Olivia Blatchford of New York 11-8 in the fifth in the semis.

Kobayshi survived a semi-final war with dangerous 19-year-old Egyptian Nouran El Torky, winning 12-10 in the fifth in the match of the tournament.

Next up for Kobayashi is Monday's Granite Club Open in Toronto.
