October Philly US Open To Be Carried Again On ESPN, SquashTV

- Official dates have been announced for the 2012 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships, the most prestigious squash tournament in the US, and one of the most significant in the world.

The elite event will form part of the 2012 World Series for both the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and Women’s Squash Association (WSA) World Series, and will be held from October 4-12, 2012 at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.

The U.S. Open is a major international showcase of talent in the sport, bringing visitors from all over the world to Philadelphia to view elite competition between professional players, including entrants from those in the world’s top 10.

The US Open will once again feature the Men’s and Women’s Championships, with the top players competing for nearly $200,000 in prize money.

The event will be streamed live on Squash TV and broadcast by 17 distributors worldwide, reaching a potential audience of 300 million people worldwide.  WatchESPN will also broadcast the semi-finals and finals of the Championships online, reaching 60 million households.

Main round matches will be showcased on the purpose-built all-glass center court beginning Saturday October 6.  Qualifying rounds will be held on October 4-5 at Philadelphia area squash clubs.

This will be the second consecutive year the prestigious tournament has been held at Philadelphia’s Drexel University. Drexel University will also play host to the Championships in 2013.
