Hunt Richardson Weighs In On The State Of The National Championships

The total of the men's and women's prize money of the 2012 SL Green US Championships was less than $13K. Without laying blame for the unprecedented reduction in the amounts compared to levels of past years, I say no wonder the draws were small. It would be nice to know why the prize money was low. Seems odd given the great demographics of the sport in the U.S. and the amount of time, energy and dollars that American squash players sink into the game.
