Illingworth Headlines Thin Men's Draw In Today's US Championships from DailySquashReport.com
March 9, 2012-
Seven-time winner and world #28 Julian Illingworth of New York is the
number one seed in the 14-player SL Green US Men's Championship, which
begins today in Massachusetts at the Harvard University Murr Center.
The event is closed to non-US citizens.
Projected to meet Illingworth in the final
is second-seeded Christopher Gordon of Long Island City, the PSA's
83rd-ranked player.
An anticipated potential SL Green meeting between
Illingworth and rising Princeton star Todd Harrity, who took
Illingworth to five in the semis of last year's tournament, will not
occur because Harrity has instead committed to a doubles event in
Philadelphia.
Illingworth and Gordon are currently the only two US men in the top 100 of the world rankings.
By contrast, England has 19 players in the top 100, and Egypt has 16.
