Top Four Seeds Into Goiania Semis by Howard Harding
The
top four seeds made it through to the semi-finals of the Goiania
Powerade Open in Brazil after surviving contrasting quarter-finals of
the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event at the Flamboyant
Shopping Centre in Goiania.
Hopes for local success were kept
firmly alive when top seed Rafael F Alarcon booked his place in the
last four without lifting a racket. After producing a notable upset in
the previous round, English qualifier Steven London was unable take his
Goiania bid any further, and conceded the match to Alarcon due to an
injury.
Brazilian Alarcon, the world No52
from Sao Paulo, will now face Yann Perrin for a place in the final
after the third-seeded Frenchman despatched Paraguay's Esteban Casarino
8-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-6.
Malaysia's Kamran Khan took more than an hour to overcome South African Clinton Leeuw 12-10, 11-7, 5-11, 11-6.
The fourth seed moves forward to
line up against No2 seed Campbell Grayson. The 25-year-old New
Zealander brushed aside Argentina qualifier Hernan D'Arcangelo 11-6,
11-1, 11-4. RESULTS: PSA Challenger 10 Goiania Powerade Open, Goiania, Brazil
