SquashWise
seeks a motivated coach to expand its squash, fitness, and tutoring
programs for Baltimore City youth. SquashWise is a unique youth
development program providing academic and social support to public
school students in Baltimore City, combining academic tutoring with
coaching in the sport of squash. Our goals are for students to improve
their grades, academic effort, and health, and to achieve high school
graduation and advancement to college and careers.
The Coaching Coordinator will be
responsible for working with 30-40 Baltimore City Students in daily
fitness activities, squash coaching, tournament planning, pre/post
testing of athletic progress, and academic coaching at our homework
sessions. This is a unique opportunity for an athlete with an interest
in youth programming to expand and improve the services of a nonprofit.
Possibilities exist for continued employment at SquashWise after the
AmeriCorps commitment, if the candidate is a good fit with the
organization and if funding permits.
Responsibilities of the Coaching
Coordinator will include recruiting and maintaining our team of
students from the 5th-8th grade, coaching high school players, building
meaningful relationships with students and parents, documenting
progress reports on each student, managing squash tournaments and
entries, and overseeing sports equipment and uniforms.
Required qualifications include a minimum
education requirement of a B.A., a passion for sports and healthy
living, a desire to commit to public service and work with inner-city
youth, a current driver’s license and clean driving record, and passing
a criminal background check.
