May 30, 2011-Working
With Elite: Approaches For the Elite Squash Coach is the title of the
10th WSF Squash Coaching Conference which will be held in Canberra from
10-12 August to coincide with the 2011 Australian Open.
The event will take place at the
city's renowned Australian Institute of Sport and will feature keynote
addresses and presentations from a number of leading international
coaches including Geoff Hunt and Liz Irving and the Australian High
Performance Group including Head Coach Byron Davis and
recently-appointed successful Commonwealth Games coach Anthony Ricketts.
"Australia has an outstanding top
level history, with so many past stars - all having benefited from fine
coaching," said WSF CEO Andrew Shelley. "Now, some of these greats -
Geoff Hunt and Liz Irving amongst others - are very successful
international coaches themselves.
"They are coming together for the 10th WSF Squash Coaching Conference in Canberra.
"Inevitably, places will be limited,
so it is vital that would-be participants sign up early to ensure
taking advantage of the Canberra conference programme."
Squash Australia Chief Executive
Gary O'Donnell added: "The WSF Coaches Conference provides a wonderful
opportunity for coaches to glean ideas and gain new understandings and
we welcome coaches from across the globe.
"I look forward particularly to the
sharing and comparing of styles of programs, whether it be one country
versus another or coaching males as different to females. All of this
is in the context of attending one of the premiere tournaments of the
year, the Australian Open, where the world's best players will once
again showcase the very best the game has to offer."
