Matthew, Barker, Walker Headline Massachusetts (USA) Squash Camps Squash and Beyond Camp runs 10 squash sessions this summer at Williams College. The first two sessions in our program Super Elite 1 & 2, June 12-17, and June 19-24, will be coached by Dave Pearson, the English National coach, and Alister Walker, world #12. Both of these sessions are designated for serious squash players with college aspirations. Nick Matthew, current World's #1. And Neil Guirey, England Regional coach will lead our Super Elite sessions 3, June 26-July 1, which is also designated for advance players with tournament experience and desire to play at the collegiate level. Both Nick Matthew Neil Guirey will also serve as the head coaches for the Advance Elite session July 3-July 8, which is catered for players age 13-16 who take squash very seriously but are not quite ready for the highly competitiveness of the Super Elite sessions.
Peter Barker, world's #6 and Paul Carter, England's head performance coach will coach the Elite Session 1 & 2, July 10-15, July 17-22, which will be designated for those younger players who look to make the jump to the next level but need to work on their technique and movement and gain some more playing experience.
Paul Hornsby, England Regional coach, and Alex Stait, England will coach the Squash & Golf session, July 24-29, which will combine intense squash training and a round of golf each afternoon. Paul Hornsby and Alex Stain, will also coach the SAT session #1, July 31-August 5 which will concentrate on the Math section of the test
Dave Pearson, English National coach and Stafford Murray, head analyst of England sport will coach the SAT session #2, August 7-12 which will concentrate on the Writing and Critical Reading sections of the test and the Super Elite session #4, August 14-19 which will conclude our summer program.
Squash and Beyond SAT program will offer two separate sessions for Math (July 29-August -5) and critical reading and writing (August 7-12). The SAT and Writing Programs, preparation sessions are designated for older kids who look for world class squash training alongside serious studying toward their SAT test. Our goal at the SAT program is to help our campers improve their test-taking skills while using professional SAT tutors from the Princeton Review Company. Participants at the SAT and writing sessions will play fiver hours of squash each day, study two hours each morning (8-10am, total of 12 hours in the classroom) and will be responsible for one hour of homework each night before going to bed. It is important to note that campers participating in the SAT program will enjoy normal squash training schedule during the day as well as all the unique outdoor activities Squash and Beyond has to offer.
Squash and Beyond Golf Program is a new program introduced in summer 2010. The goal of the program is to combine five hours of intense world class squash training followed by fun afternoon golf outings.
The golf programs at Squash and Beyond Camps is open for campers age 10-18 and offers a fun, relaxed environment paired with serious golf instructors from the region. All squash coaches working that session are also avid golfer which will play golf with the campers each night. The weeklong summer camp is the ideal opportunity for junior squash players to develop their golf game. Our goal is to create a structured environment to promote the development of the fundamentals for the full swing, chipping, pitching, and putting techniques. Golfers will have fun learning the rules and etiquette, short game, and will include close range and on course instruction and 9 holes of group play every day.
Some important information you might want to know about our program:
1. The squash facility at Williams has 12 squash courts which allow the accommodation of up to 40 campers per week.
2. Throughout the 9 sessions Squash and Beyond Camp offers this summer, we employ the BEST coaching staff available. All of the head coaches in our program are professional coaches who fly from England exclusively to coach at Squash Beyond Camps.
3. Each session at Squash and Beyond Camp employs 10 coaches and consolers, working with up to 42 kids!
4. Campers at Squash and Beyond Camp is supervised at all time by the coaching staff at the courts, dorms and during the outdoors activities.
5. Squash and Beyond Camps offers a structured outdoor program for daily activities after practice hours. A private bus will take the kids each night to different outdoor activity sites. Some of the activities offered are: afternoon of golf golf, movie night, whitewater rafting (every Wednesday afternoon), volleyball night, swimming at the pool, soccer night, and homerun derby.
6. Squash and Beyond Camps offers an educational program which include visit to the Clark art institute SAT and Writing programs as well as a weekly visit to the Williams Theater Festival
7. Most players in Squash and Beyond Camps will receive a private room in one of Williams dorms that is designated for the squash camp. It is possible to accommodate campers in rooms of two and even three. All meals will be provided by the Williams dinning services at one of the colleges' 6 dinning rooms.
8. Each day the players will have a fitness session with a professional instructor employed by the camp as well as a stretching session and video analysis with one of the head coaches.
9. Squash and Beyond camp employs a full time driver that will offer campers transportation from and back to Albany airport as well as the Albany train station. Each leg of the trip cost $75.
10. Campers are welcome to participate in more than one session during the summer. It is possible to stay at the Williams dorm during the weekend between sessions. The cost of staying over the weekend (2 extra nights and meals) is $165.
11. For the SAT and writing work shop sessions: Campers will study in a class room for two hours each day (8-10am) and will have one hour of homework each night. Campers participating in the SAT and writing work shop sessions will follow the same training schedule and participate in the same outdoor activities as other sessions.
12. Once a week, from 9-10:30 pm the campers will participate in a leadership program to promote team building skills and individual leadership qualities.
