Corren’s Run Continues In Tanunda

June 10, 2012 - South Australia’s Mike Corren turned in a vintage performance to upset top seed Rex Hedrick and claim the Barossa Valley Toyota Open squash tournament in Tanunda on Sunday.

Corren made it four tournaments in a row on the Australian Squash Tour when he beat Hedrick in straight games 11-8, 11-7, 11-7.

The evergreen Corren has now won an incredible 41 titles on the men’s professional tour and is unbeaten in his last 18 matches, and heads to next week's South Australian Open aiming for five in a row.

The women’s event was won by Melbourne 23-year-old Melody Francis, who came from two games down to overhaul New Zealander Amanda Landers-Murphy 6-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8. Francis had earlier beaten fellow Australian Institute of Sport member Sarah Cardwell in the semi-finals.
