July 28, 2012 - Harvard sophomore Amanda Sobhy needed the full five games to get past veteran American performer Latasha Khan yesterday, as she advanced to the main draw of the 2012 Open International des Pyramides in France.

Sobhy lost a 9-11 fourth game before steadying out a four point fifth to defeat Latasha in 50 minutes: 11-7  8-11  11-6  9-11  11-7.

Amanda will take on French star Camille Serme, the world #8, in today's round-of-16.

In other final round qualifiers, Ireland's Aisling Blake was too much for young Sabrina Sobhy, winning in 20 minutes.

And in an anticpated matchup, top English junior Emily Whitlock was shut down by resurgent British veteran Alison Waters in three.

Waters will face Australian Donna Urquhart in first round activity.

Also in the main draw is Mexico's Samantha Teran, who is paired against Omneya Abdel Kawy of Egypt.
