UK Player Breaks Opponent's Jaw During Argument Over Score, Pays Restitution To Avoid Jail
June 6, 2011-A
UK man who assaulted his best friend during an argument in a
recreational squash match has avoided jail time by paying for the
victim's dental work.
In an incident last November at the
Castle Palace Leisure Center in Trowbridge, Dean Williams, who is
trained in Kung Fu, kicked his opponent Liam Walsh in the face after
the two players couldn't agree on the score. Walsh has since
undergone multiple medical procedures.
On Friday Williams handed over an agreed-upon 3,700 pounds to the Swindon crown court to go toward Walsh's medical expenses.
Branding the case "unusual", Judge Euan Ambrose passed a nine-month sentence, suspended for a year.
