Chelsea Piers CT Squash Complex Near Completion, Includes Glass Sidewall Doubles Court

June 6, 2012 - The 400,000 square foot Chelsea Piers, Connecticut sports center is slated to open on schedule in early July following a furious year of construction at the Stamford site.

Of interest to North American doubles players is a unique new court featuring a colored, all-glass left sidewall, installed by the great Gordie Anderson of Anderson Courts and Sport Surfaces.

Eleven singles courts are also in the final stages of completion, along with a multitude of other facilitites that include ice hockey rinks, soccer and lacrosse fields, a gymnastics center, an indoor tennis complex and a huge aquatic center.

Former world number-one Natalie Grainger is the Chelsea Piers, CT director of squash.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Mayor Michael A. Pavia are scheduled to chair a June 28th  ribbon-cutting celebration.
