Women’s Squash’s Hathway Named Trinity’s 2010-11 Top Junior Female Scholar-Athlete
Hartford, Conn., July 11, 2011 – Trinity College women's squash junior co-captain Pamela Hathway (Munich, Germany) was honored with the 2011 Susan E. Martin Award winner as the College's top junior female scholar athlete of the year. Hathway, seniors Sky Livingston (Nahant, Mass.) and Robyn Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and sophomore McCrea Davison (Atlanta, Ga.) were also selected to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Winter All-Academic Team. Each student-athlete selected to the NESCAC All-Academic Team must be a junior or a senior starter or key reserve for a varsity team and maintain at least a 3.35 grade-point average. Williams is a four-time, NESCAC All-Academic selection in field hockey and squash.
Trinity, coached by Wendy Bartlett (27th Season), posted a 14-4 overall record and won its fifth straight NESCAC Championship title. The Bantams were selected for the CSA National Team Championship Tournament (Howe Cup) for the 16th straight season, advancing to the semifinals with a 7-2 win over Stanford in the quarterfinal round. Trinity lost a 6-3 match to Harvard before closing the season with a 5-4 road defeat against Princeton in the Third Place Match.
Hathway , a two-time All-NESCAC and All-American selection, returned from a semester abroad in January to earn a 14-2 record for an .875 winning percentage (2nd on team) this winter. She was one of just three Bantams to win all three of her matches at the Howe Cup. Hathway reached the CSA National Singles Championship as a sophomore transfer student in 2010, and has been a member of the German National Teams since 2002. A graduate of Gymnasium Ottobrun, Hathway is majoring in chemistry and neuroscience at Trinity.
Livingston was 2-5 in 2010-11 to finish her squash career with an 8-6 mark. She also played varsity tennis for the Bantams. An alum of St. George’s School in Rhode Island, Livingston graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in economics and a minor in music. She is the daughter of Mary and Dunbar Livingston. Davison attended St. George’s School in Rhode Island and is the daughter of Cynthia and Mike Davison.
Williams was 19-4 this winter (tied for team lead in wins), most often playing at the No. 8 spot in the lineup. She is also a two-time All-American and a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic selection for the Bantam field hockey team, and she played varsity tennis for two years. Williams has played for several Zimbabwe National Teams in field hockey, squash, and tennis. A graduate of Girls’ College, Williams is majoring in anthropology at Trinity. She is the daughter of Sheila and Trefor Williams.
