As I Was Saying . . .

The contrast between Monday night's Pan-American Games men's and women's gold medal matches is another indication that the women's tour needs to make an adjustment, and that lowering the tin is not the answer.

In the men's final between Rodriguez and Elias, the first game lasted 27 minutes.

The four-gamer, won by Colombia's Rodriguez, went a total of 81 minutes.

Game durations were 27 minutes, 8 minutes, 23 minutes and 19 minutes.

By contrast, in the Sobhy-Blatchford women's gold medal final, game durations were 6 minutes, 6 minutes and 4 minutes.

Including rest time (if you can call it that), the women's match survived for 19 minutes.
