Route 66, Day 19
by Bryan Patterson

June 30, 2015 - Mark had a quick dip in the Stroud Lake, then we were on our way. Giselle, Cristian and Sidd were the kids out on the bikes, along with myself, and Cristian setting a good pace. These kids were certainly getting used to riding and setting a good pace, it was tough to keep up, although it was the hills that I made up the lee way, always catching up with the group. Sidd didn’t really like any hills, slopes, or mountains, although the mountains were long gone!

This was a day of some great cycling with 65+ miles done. The Route was very undulating, with fields with cattle, sheep, and crops in them. Very beautiful and actually pretty quiet, with only the occasional passing car. A very easy but long ride with the kids taking it in turns to relay and do the total miles between them, probably more if the fact was known.

Nothing spectacular happening on the ride until Sidd took a railway crossing the wrong way – his front wheel went into the gap between the tracks, and down he went! Again! If it’s going to happen you could almost say that it’s going to happen to Sidd!

A scrapped elbow and really nothing else, he was lucky believe me. His front wheel was slightly off so a call to the van “Man down” and back they came to take Sidd to the camp site – Will Rogers Downs, right next to a horse track and a casino!
Everyone was tired as this again had been a long days ride.
