US Women Square Off Against India Today In World Juniors Semifinal from DailySquashReport.com
July 29, 2011-
The US junior women’s team will take on India today at 4:30pm EST
for a spot in the finals of the 2011 World Juniors in Boston.
The Americans got past a stubborn New Zealand team yesterday, two
matches to one, with #1 Amanda Sobhy and #2 Olivia Blatchford each
winning in three. India ground out a two-love victory over England.
The other semi-final will pit defending champion Egypt against Hong Kong China.
The US will make a line-up change for the India match, elevating
alternate Haley Mendez into the #3 slot. Mendez scored an upset win
over the #1 Australian junior Tamika Saxby in the round-of-32 of last
week’s World Individuals.
US Head Coach Jack Wyant told DailySquashReport.com:
“Sabrina (Sobhy) had a tough, hard, long 4 game match tonight vs
New Zealand so we're continuing our plan to rotate our 3 & 4.
Haley (Mendez) is playing tomorrow versus India.
She's very experienced, super fit and is ready to shine--as all of our team members have this tournament.
We are very excited to take on India in the semi-final.”
