Maria Ubina Stuns England's Brogan Lane To Reach Pioneer Semis from

Maria Elena Ubina of Stamford, Connecticut shocked second-seeded Brogan
Lane of England in straight games today to advance to the Girls U-19
Pioneer Cup semifinals in Cologne, Germany. Ubina earlier defeated
Eszter Csokasi of Hungary to gain a quarterfinal berth.
Ubina will face 6th seed Elvira Bedjai of France on Sunday in one
semi-final. The other will be an all-English matchup between top-seeded
Emily Whitlock and #5 Hannah Williams.
Ubina, a US World Juniors team member, has yet to drop a game in the tournament.
In Girls U-17 play, remaining Americans Lyndsey Scott and Katie Tutrone were eliminated today.
Scott pushed Egyptian #1 seed Haidi Lala to five games in the 3rd round
before losing 11-6 in the fifth. Tutrone beat Belgian Nikita Brant to
reach the quarters, where she fell to Lala in three.
