Squash Named As One Of Eight Sports Vying For 2020 Olympic Spot from DailySquashReport.com
July 4, 2011-
Squash will be one of eight sports battling it out for one potential
open spot in the 2020 Olympics, the International Olympic Committee
said today.
The eight sports in contention are
squash, baseball, softball, wakeboard, sport climbing, rollersports,
karate, and wushu (a martial art).
Surfing, dancing, bowling and
netball didn’t make the cut. Baseball and softball were removed
from the Olympics after the 2008 Games.
The list of the eight sports currently under consideration could be reduced in early 2013, IOC President Jacques Rogge said.
