- Seeds held form yesterday in the first round of the $10,000 WISPA Mohawk Open in the Hamptons on coastal Long Island, New York.

Top-seed and world #31 Latasha Khan withstood a stiff first game challenge from 14-year-old fellow American Sabrina Sobhy before coasting to a straight game win (11-7, 11-4, 11-4).

WISPA #34 Joshna Chinappa of India handled Elpiniki Clement of the US in three. Third-seeded Sina Wall of Germany beat Leoni Holt of England in a tight three, and Canadian Samantha Cornett, the fourth-seed, straight-setted Indian qualifier Anaka Alakamony.
