Quick And Smith Capture DONAT Invitational Hamptons Doubles

August 16, 2011 - Preston Quick and Jonny Smith defeated Tim Wyant and Graham Bassett in five entertaining games to win the DONAT Doubles Invitational on Sunday in Southampton, New York.
In the semis, Quick of the US and Smith of England, ranked #5 and #13 respectively on the ISDA Pro Tour, got past Gustav Detter and Baset Chaudhry in four, while Wyant and Bassett handled Trevor McGuinness and Todd Ruth in the other match.
The corresponding women’s event final had Meredeth Quick and JoAnn Jee straight-set winners over Elisabeth Hill and Emily Lungstrum.
The doubles tournament was part of a Hamptons pro trifecta that included a PST men’s event won by John White and a WISPA tour stop won by Latasha Khan.
Veteran doubles player Guy Cipriano said, “The courts in Southampton were ROCKING this weekend. Really high level of play- fun stuff.”
