- The US and Canadian men’s teams will do battle today at High Noon eastern standard time in the first round of the 16-team championship draw at the 2011 World Team Championships in Paderborn, Germany.

The pressure on both teams to win this match in this biennial event is enormous. It will be a devastating defeat for the loser, undoubtedly leading to a re-evaluation of the country's elite men's program.

The winner will likely face second-seeded Egypt, who takes on Germany today, in the quarters.

Canada, seeded #7 out of the 32 countries that began these world championships, was unbeaten in pool qualifying play, defeating Scotland, Mexico and Namibia.

The US, seeded #8, qualified as a pool runner-up, beating the Ukraine and Switzerland before losing to Italy yesterday.

Tenth-seed Mexico, runner-up in its pool by virtue of a clutch win yesterday against Scotland, faces Italy.

England, the top-seed in the draw, plays Hong Kong.
