Coach Assaiante Filed This Final Report From Paderborn:
So the dust has settled and we stand at # 7 in the world.
What makes this so extraordinary is that these boys did this a man down, as Gilly could only play one match out of the seven.
It was a critical one however as it got us through to the elite 8.
In the elite draw there was no place to hide as we faced Egypt on the glass and then a very talented Malaysian squad.
The boys decided to leave nothing on court and empty the tanks.
When you play elite players like Ong Beng Hee or Saurav Ghosal, or
Mueller from Switzerland, they have so much firepower that you must hit
balls to where they would least like it and then attack.
The boys improved in that area every match and with Gilly and Gareth leading the cheering squad.
Our team bonded into a cohesive unit.
We need to get Gilly healthy for the Pan Am games and then come up with a more comprehensive plan for the next year.
