The Wizard of Squash! And an Accessible Legend!

As does happen in the World of Sports, Champions bid adieu - from the ring, track and courts! But legendary players are never forgotten. World Champion Amr Shabana is one such legend! We have watched him produce his majic on the court at the TOC in Grand Central Station and the US Open at Drexel University many times. Including in that overflow capacity audience when well past his time he reduced the reigning World #1 to an 0-3 loss as pointed out by James Willstrop in his article on the Champ. His majic and anticipation were such that a top level collegiate player whom I had trained in his high school days thought that he just guessed right - of course this explanation defied statistics. And despite the heights and breadth that he straddled Amr Shabana was patient and accessible to all of his fans and in fact reveled in their respect - I know he even spoke to me after his US Open win over Nick Matthew. We look forward to following the next phase in his amazing career.
