John White Reportedly Retiring From The PST

August 3, 2012 - Former World #1 John White has reportedly announced his intent to leave the PST and thereby become eligible for a local qualifying spot in the 2012 PSA US Open.

August 3, 2012- John White has been a fixture on the Pro Squash Tour since 2009. He played in the very first tournament when the tour was called US Pro Squash.
 
In addtion to reaching several tournament finals, White won the 2011 Albany Open, 2011 Mohawk Open in Southampton, and the 2010 Philadelphia Open. This past May White competed in the PST World Championships and achieved a 3rd place finish.
 
Originally from Queensland, Australia White gained world-wide attention because of his unique playing style and powerful shots. White for years held the world record for hitting the fastest squash shot at 172 mph. He also played a short time for Scotland and won their National Championship.

Before signing on with PST, White reached a career high ranking of #1 on the PSA World Tour. He retired from competing full-time on the PSA Tour in 2008.
 
He took over as the head squash coach at Franklin & Marshall College, where he led the college back to being one of college squash's elite programs. In 2011 White accepted the opportunity to build a new squash program at Drexel University in downtown Philadelphia.
 
"He's a special and rare talent," said PST Commissioner Joe McManus. "It's been a pleasure to see him compete.
 
"I haven't given up hope that we will see him in the future on occasion. But if indeed he has played his last event with us, I will forever be grateful to him for his role in shaping and growing PST."
