TITLE: Squash Professional

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: Effective delivery and maintenance of World Class coaching and programs at the Seattle Athletic Club. The Squash Professional is responsible for marketing, selling and delivering squash lessons, clinics and tournaments for the club membership.

JOB DUTIES: Squash Professional Requirements

• To maintain and uphold the World Class squash profile and renown at the Seattle Athletic Club.
• Responsible for marketing, selling, billing and delivering World Class Squash services. Included in the delivery of these services will be scheduling, designing, updating and carrying out an individualized coaching program based on a client’s abilities, needs and goals.
• The Squash Professional need to be able to teach and demonstrate exemplary technique and skill to maximize the effectiveness of coaching and therefore uphold the World Class standards of instruction at Seattle Athletic Club.
• To enthuse, encourage and retain Seattle Athletic Club members in squash by providing guidance on progression opportunities at a level appropriate to their ability
• To up hold and promote coaching good practice through Seattle Athletic Clubs high standards and code of conduct
• To innovate and adapt coaching sessions to cater for differing ranges of abilities and learning styles and train clubs to deliver these programs
• To provide electronic monitoring, evaluation and reporting on a regular basis as required
• To carry out duties in accordance with all Seattle Athletic Club Squash policies including, equal opportunities, child protection, and health and safety.
Administrative Duties Required
• New member consultations- Squash staff is responsible for assisting new members through new member lessons. This may include: Orientations, evaluations or an Introduction to Squash for those who will continue training following new member appointment.
• Responsibility for the facility – regularly cleans up the squash area and encourages others to follow suit. It is the responsibility of all Squash Professional’s to assist in maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance at the Club. Squash Professionals are required to set the example by returning all equipment to their proper area, to assist in keeping the Squash area clean and safe, and to respond courteously and promptly with any member problem or suggestion. If equipment is in need of attention, it is the Squash Professional’s responsibility to inform the appropriate people of equipment that needs repair.
• Develop, plan, promote and implement at least 4 clinics per year, tailored to membership’s needs/wants.
• Develop, plan, promote and implement at least 4 tournaments per year, (in-house or wider community) tailored to membership’s needs/wants.
• A Seattle Athletic Club Squash Professional is required to have and enough National and International experience so that they have the ability to attract and develop internationally ranked tournaments and exhibitions to the club.
• Complete a monthly operations report (MER) submitted to the General Manger by the third business day of each month
• Follow through – Check E-mail and voice mail and at beginning and end of each appointment. Also, follows up with developmental/potential clients as well as those members who choose not to utilize the service of the Squash Department. 24-hour response time. .
• Update daily schedule at beginning of shift for following two weeks (regular client appointments, client development, time and client management, & breaks).
• Keep updated list of current clients available to the General Manger.
• Be a proactive presence throughout the squash areas. This includes but is not limited to: answering member’s questions and give your assistance when possible. Providing members with any pertinent club info. Being assertive in approaching members to assist them in their game, educate them, or correct their technique.
