from PSA Media

10 September 2012- North American Julian Illingworth dashed hopes of a South American win in the inaugural BH Open in Brazil when he beat local hero Rafael Alarcon in the final of the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event at Academia Winner Squash in Belo Horizonte.

But fourth seed Alarcon, the Brazilian number one who has reached the final in all four Tour event appearances this year, took the opening game as the packed Brazilian crowd sensed their hero's second successive upset in Belo Horizonte.

Top seed Illingworth fought back, however. The world No31 from New York - ranked 40 places higher than his 35-year-old opponent - recovered the advantage and after 69 minutes closed out the match 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9.

The triumph marks the seventh Tour title of Illingworth's career - and the second of the year after winning the Northern Ontario Championship in Canada in April.

[1] Julian Illingworth (USA) bt [4] Rafael Alarcon (BRA) 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 (69m)
